OUR STORY

How a 75 year old locomotive brought us together
Everyone has a train story. And some stories are worth sharing. We decided back in 2020 that we needed to save as many of these stories for future generations as possible. That's when we found Lehigh Valley Railroad 119 and decided to use her to connect the future to the past.

ABOUT 119

Lehigh Valley Railroad 119 is the last SW1 built by EMD for a Class One railroad and one of the very last, if not THE last to be built. She would generally work between Bethlehem, PA and Lehighton, PA. 119 was sold before the Conrail merger to a steel mill in Ohio. It worked here for a while until retirement where she sat forlorn and forgotten.

Enter HRW. Our founders realized the importance of this locomotive. There are three LV SW1s that survive. This is the only one that has not been restored in the preservation era. Let's change that!

100% VOLUNTEER

Everything we do is volunteer. No member of HRW draws a salary. With your help we can keep this project going!
